How to get there
When travelling towards Panama from Arugam Bay along the B374, some two kilometers along, make a left turn onto the Kudakalliya Road. Arrive at the very bottom of that road and Crocodile Rock is just ahead along the coast. A ten minute walk passing the lagoon to your right will bring you to this point; Climb the rock for impressive views of the beach and surrounding paddy lands.
According to some, the long elongated ‘snout’ shape of this natural rock gives it its name; but in reality, the name is derived from the mugger crocodiles that access this area via the adjacent Heda Oya Lagoon. You will be lucky to spot a crocodile, especially given their shy nature, however no need to panic as they just want to bask in the sun, atop this rock.
Crocodile Rock Surf Location Also known as Elephant Rock, it’s a beautiful spot for a day surf mission. Located half hour ride to the south from the mainland & another 20m walk down the beach passing two river mouths , it’s a mushy right ideal for a beginner/intermediate or a long boarder. It needs a medium to large swell for Crocodile Rock to work at all. When the point is 6 foot then Crocodile Rock will be 3 foot. A sucky take-off section over sand leads on to a long wall that breaks right down the point for about 400 meters much like inside Pottuvil point. Crocodile Rock is usually uncrowded due to no proper accommodation around the point. There is a danger of wild elephants and bears roaming around the area, but they are often harmless. Take a lot of water , a towel, and your umbrella if your lady is going to sunbath while you surf.

E soprattutto state alla larga dagli elefanti.
